ORTHORIEDL
PAIN-FREE TOGETHER
An Achilles tendon rupture is usually caused by a sudden and severe strain on the Achilles tendon. It can also be caused by pre-existing Achilles tendinitis or a previous antibiotic intake. Treatment can be conservative or surgical. Conservative treatment for partial tears involves rest, wearing splints or casts, physiotherapy and targeted exercises to strengthen the tendon. For severe tears or in people who are active in sports, surgery to reconstruct the tendon is definitely recommended to reduce the risk of further injury. For detailed information about the appropriate surgical method, I will be happy to take the time for a detailed consultation in my medical practice.
I would be happy to discuss the diagnosis and treatment options with you in a personal consultation.
