Hallux rigidus

Hallux rigidus (osteoarthritis of the first metatarsophalangeal joint) is a disease in which the first metatarsophalangeal joint stiffens and the range of motion is painfully restricted. Treatment includes conservative measures such as rest, shoe fittings, orthotic insoles (rigidus spring), physiotherapy, physical therapy, occasional corticosteroid injections and painkillers.
