Pediatric flatfoot

Pediatric flatfoot is a foot malposition that occurs in children and is characterized by a drop in the longitudinal arch of the foot. In this deformity, the inner edge of the foot touches the ground, while the longitudinal arch is collapsed. This is often seen in young children and in many cases disappears during development without the need for treatment. However, special shoes, orthotic insoles or, in some cases, physiotherapy exercises can help to support the development of the foot arch. In rare cases, if the deformity lasts longer or causes pain, surgery may be necessary. In order to be able to intervene in good time in this case, annual check-ups are necessary as the child grows.
