ORTHORIEDL
PAIN-FREE TOGETHER
Calcific tendinitis of the shoulder is a painful disease in which calcific deposits form in the tendons of the shoulder. The development of calcification is not yet fully understood, but may be caused by anatomical conditions such as a tight shoulder joint (impingement), metabolic diseases or genetic conditions. The calcific deposit in the shoulder can dissolve by itself within a few years.
However, if the pain restricts everyday life too much, there are several ways to accelerate calcification. Initially, this is always done conservatively, using shock wave therapy, anti-inflammatory corticosteroid injections and targeted physiotherapy. If conservative therapy alone does not help satisfactorily, minimally invasive surgery is recommended. Using the latest keyhole technique (arthroscopy), which only requires small incisions in the skin, the calcific deposit can be removed or stimulated to dissolve more quickly. I will be happy to provide detailed information about this surgical method in a detailed consultation in my medical practice.
I would be happy to discuss the diagnosis and treatment options with you in a personal consultation.
