ORTHORIEDL
PAIN-FREE TOGETHER
The shoulder is the most mobile joint in our body, allowing the arm to move in all directions. To ensure that the joint head remains stable in the glenoid during movement, the shoulder joint is surrounded by muscles and their tendon insertions, known as the rotator cuff. Tears can occur here, either due to wear (degenerative ruptures) or injury (traumatic ruptures). These tears can severely impair the range of motion of the shoulder and can be very painful.
Tendon tears in the shoulder often require targeted treatment. For small tears, physiotherapy exercises in combination with other conservative measures are sufficient to reduce the pain and restore the shoulder's range of motion. In more severe cases, it is advisable to repair the torn tendon if possible. This is done arthroscopically, i.e. using the latest camera technology, which requires only small incisions in the skin. Early diagnosis and appropriate therapy are crucial for a successful recovery. If the tendon can no longer be repaired (irreparable rotator cuff tear), a muscle-tendon transfer may be necessary to stabilize the shoulder again and thus delay or avoid the need for shoulder arthroplasty. I will be happy to provide you with detailed information about the appropriate surgical method in a detailed consultation in my medical practice.
I would be happy to discuss the diagnosis and treatment options with you in a personal consultation.
