Arthroscopic shoulder stabilization

If the anterior labrum tears off after a shoulder dislocation, it must be reattached. This is done arthroscopically using special anchors that reconnect the labrum to the bone. This brings the labrum back into its normal position. The shoulder joint is thus stabilized and protected from further dislocations.

The inpatient stay is usually one night. The surgery is followed by a rehabilitation and physiotherapy phase lasting several weeks in order to provide the best possible long-term protection for the now stable joint, including through the surrounding muscles.
