Hip arthroplasty

If the wear on the hip joint is so severe and the associated pain so great that conservative treatments do not achieve any improvement, a hip replacement must be considered. This involves replacing the hip joint (femoral head and acetabulum) with an artificial joint. Preparation for this surgery includes a thorough orthopaedic examination and a detailed discussion of the procedure.
