PAIN-FREE TOGETHER

Meniscus repair / partial resection

Meniscus repair is a minimally invasive procedure to repair a torn meniscus in the knee joint. The damaged meniscus is repaired using a special suture system in an arthroscopic surgery that only requires small incisions in the skin. A meniscus repair is only promising in the case of fresh tears in a meniscus zone with good blood supply. In all other cases, a so-called partial meniscectomy can be helpful in order to achieve pain-free and full knee function. In this surgery, the affected part of the meniscus is removed using a special punch.

Both the meniscus repair and the partial resection can be performed on a day-clinic basis or with an overnight stay in hospital. You can put full weight on the knee on the same day with two forearm crutches.

I will be happy to provide you with detailed information about the appropriate surgical method in a detailed consultation in my medical practice.
